While granite is one of the hardest natural materials on earth and is heat and scratch resistant, it is not indestructible. We do not recommend sitting or standing on countertops, this could cause breakage, chips and scratches of the stone. Care should be taken with heavy pots, pans and dishes especially around edges and cutouts to avoid chips.
Avoid using cleaners with bleach, abrasives, acids and lemon juice. Use a stone cleaner that can be purchased from us and many local retailers or mild dishwashing liquid with water. A low ammonia glass or glass and surface cleaner may be used for a streak free shine. Promptly clean any food (especially oils and food dyes) or chemical spills from the countertops. Lighter color granites, marble and limestone require more diligence in these matters. Do not use polishes or waxes that were not specifically manufactured for granite use.
Marble and limestone are composed of different minerals than granite and are by nature softer and more porous than granite. These types of stone should be resealed yearly.
